Drawing, not a real map: small local areas. Each patch is held by one firm.

01How it works

  1. Claim your patch

Pick up to 5 small local areas for each trade you do (included). Registering doesn't cost anything and doesn't promise you any jobs.

  2. Our plan: one firm per patch

Once our sites are live, we send enquiries to one firm per patch, no promises of numbers. You do the jobs. Our plan is a local quote site for your trade and patch, with your firm named on it. No local site is live yet, and we can't say how many enquiries any patch will get.

  3. You do the jobs

When a homeowner sends an enquiry for your patch, they agree to us sending it to your firm only. You call them, quote and agree the job directly.

Your patch = the postcode area(s) you cover: up to 5 postcode districts or sectors included for each trade; more patches in that trade cost extra (£10 per extra patch, paid once; working price). We send enquiries to one firm per patch, per trade. No promises of numbers.

Our plan is UK-wide, patch by patch: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. We don't cover any area yet and no local site is live yet. The areas below are only examples, not places we cover.

  • EH6 (Leith, example)
  • CF24 (Roath, example)
  • BT9 (Malone, example)
  • OL10 (Heywood, example)
  • NE6 (Byker, example)
  • Manchester
  • Glasgow
  • Cardiff
  • Belfast
  • all of "M"

02See an enquiry go through

A walk-through using our local prototype and a made-up homeowner. Example/demo - invented business, not a real service. The examples use North West England areas (Heywood, Rochdale) only as samples; the plan is UK-wide and no area is covered yet. Nothing here was sent to anyone.

  1. The homeowner asks for a quote

On a local quote site. Your firm is named on the page before they send anything.

Example - invented businessThe same example fencing quote site on a phone: the headline, a short line saying the enquiry goes to one named local firm, and a 'Request a quote' button.
  2. Their consent is recorded

They tick a box naming your firm. No tick, no enquiry.

    Example - invented business
I agree that Sample Fencing Co (invented) may contact me about this enquiry, and that Sample Fence Quotes Heywood can send my enquiry and contact details to Sample Fencing Co (invented) only, for this enquiry only.

What the homeowner agreed to (shown next to the form, ticked 2026-11-02T09:00:00Z UTC):
"I agree that Sample Fencing Co (invented) may contact me about this enquiry, and that Sample Fence Quotes Heywood can send my enquiry and contact details to Sample Fencing Co (invented) only, for this enquiry only."

Reply rule: please contact them within 2 working hours, and at the latest within 1 working day

and at the latest by 2026-11-03 09:00 GMT. If you don't, we give you the credit back and may, only with the
homeowner's fresh agreement, offer the enquiry to another firm.
  4. You call them in time

The panels come from one run of our local prototype with a fictional enquiry (reference ENQ-DE0001). The homeowner, firm and site are invented; the phone number is from the range Ofcom keeps for drama.

What a local quote site looks like

Example quote site on a laptop screen: 'Fence repair and replacement quotes in Heywood', with a 'Request a quote' button, a 'Who we are' box naming the one firm enquiries go to, and a drawing of a fence with a storm-damaged panel. A yellow banner above the page says it is a sample.

04Who does what

We do

  • Build and run the local quote sites (none are live yet).
  • Name your firm on the page, so the homeowner knows who will call.
  • Record each homeowner's consent before anything reaches you.
  • Send each enquiry to your firm only.
  • Keep a written rule for bad leads, and give credit back when it applies.

You do

  • Call within 2 working hours if you can, and within 1 working day at the latest.
  • Give written quotes, and don't ask for full payment up front.
  • Hold public liability insurance (our lead terms: at least £1m).
  • Hold any legal registration your work needs.
  • Use the homeowner's details for that enquiry only.
  • Do the work and agree it directly with the homeowner.

We don't

  • Promise any number of enquiries, any jobs or any income.
  • Pass an enquiry to a second firm. The one exception: you missed the reply time, and the homeowner then says yes to one other firm we name.
  • Inspect or judge workmanship. Each homeowner site has a 'How we check' page that lists only what we looked at.
  • Check or verify anyone's registrations or qualifications. Each firm must hold any legal registration its work needs.
  • Do the work, quote for it or take payment from homeowners.
  • Sell homeowners' details, or keep them longer than 90 days.
  • Run any ads yet. No local site is live yet.

Gas, electrical and other regulated work. We don't check or verify anyone's registrations or qualifications. Each firm must hold any legal registration its work needs (for example, Gas Safe registration for gas work, or a competent person scheme or building control sign-off for notifiable electrical work).

05Bad leads and late replies

From our Refund and Bad-Lead Policy (bad-lead policy, version 0.6). It isn't final, and it isn't published anywhere yet.

Counts as a bad lead: credit back

  • Fake or wrong contact details.
  • Nobody answers after 3 attempts over at least 2 working days, with at least 1 call and at least 1 email or text.
  • The job is outside your patch, or isn't your trade.
  • A duplicate of an enquiry we sent you in the last 90 days.
  • Spam, a test or abuse, or a person who says they never asked.
  • They'd already hired someone before you got in touch, if you tried within 1 working day and they confirm it in writing.

Doesn't count

  • They chose another firm, or went quiet after you'd spoken or quoted.
  • They thought the price was too high, or changed their plans.
  • Too few attempts, or all on one day, or by one method only.

How to claim

Claim within 7 days of the date we sent it, with the reference, the reason and your evidence. We decide within 1 working day of getting your evidence, or up to 3 working days if we need to ask the homeowner. You can reply once with new evidence if we say no.

The reply rule Lead terms Aim to contact the homeowner within 2 working hours, and at the latest within 1 working day (8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, UK time, not counting bank holidays anywhere in the UK).

If you miss it: you get the credit back. We then ask the homeowner whether they'd like their enquiry passed to one other firm, which we name, and we only pass it on if they say yes.

06Claim your patch

Tell us your trade and the small local areas you cover. We'll email you if we have, or plan, a site for your trade there.

Pick small local areas, up to 5 for each trade. Whole cities such as Manchester aren't available as one patch.

Up to 5 patches are included for each trade you do. More patches in a trade cost extra: £10 per extra patch, paid once (working price). Nothing is charged here.

This is not a contract and it doesn't commit you, or us, to anything. Registering doesn't cost anything and doesn't promise you any jobs.

We're not promising any patch or any number of enquiries.

Your trade

Our list of main trades. Do more than one trade? Tell us the others by email. Patches are per trade: one firm per patch for each trade, and up to 5 included for each trade.

Your patch for this trade: up to 5 small local areas (included)

Anywhere in the UK: a postcode district such as EH6, CF24, BT9 or OL10, or a sector such as BT9 5. Add a place name if you like (examples: Leith, Roath, Malone). Only the first area is needed.

07Questions

What does it cost?

Your first 3 enquiries free. After that, the working price is £20 an enquiry, paid in advance as credits, or £100 for a pack of 5 credits. That price isn't final and may change before launch. There's no monthly fee. Unused paid credit is refunded if you ask, and your balance can't go below zero, so you never owe us money.

What if I can't call in time?

Aim to call within 2 working hours, and at the latest within 1 working day (8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, UK time, not counting bank holidays anywhere in the UK). If you haven't been in touch by then, you get the credit back. We then ask the homeowner whether they'd like their enquiry passed to one other firm, which we name, and we only pass it on if they say yes. That's the only way another firm could get one of your enquiries. This is in our lead terms.

What is a bad lead?

One you shouldn't pay for: fake or wrong contact details, nobody answering after 3 tries over at least 2 working days (at least 1 call and at least 1 email or text), a job outside your patch, the wrong trade, a duplicate of one we sent you in the last 90 days, spam, or someone who says they never asked. Claim within 7 days of the date we sent it and you get the credit back. A real enquiry that doesn't turn into a job (they chose someone else, or thought the price was too high) isn't a bad lead.

Do I have to sign a contract?

There's no long contract and nothing to sign right now. Claiming your patch on this page is not a contract and doesn't commit you, or us, to anything. If you later decide to take enquiries, you'd agree to our short lead terms: no minimum term, no subscription, no automatic renewal, and you can leave by email whenever you like.

Where do the enquiries come from?

From local quote websites we plan to build and run, one per trade and town (the plan is UK-wide; the samples shown here use North West England areas as examples), for homeowners who search for things like fence repair in their town. None of them are live yet, so there's no track record to show you. A new site may get few enquiries or none, especially at first, and we can't say how many any site will get.

Which trades can join?

Our plan covers fencing, plastering, roofing, plumbing and other main trades, each with its own local quote site. None of these sites are live yet. Tell us your trade or trades by email. Patches are per trade: one firm per patch for each trade, and up to 5 included for each trade. We don't check or verify anyone's registrations or qualifications. Each firm must hold any legal registration its work needs (for example, Gas Safe registration for gas work, or a competent person scheme or building control sign-off for notifiable electrical work).

How big can my patch be, and is it available?

Your patch is the postcode area or areas you cover, made of small local areas. Our plan is UK-wide (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland), but we don't cover any area yet and no local site is live yet. Up to 5 postcode districts or sectors are included for each trade you do, for example EH6 (Leith), CF24 (Roath), BT9 (Malone) or OL10 (Heywood); these are only examples. More patches in that trade cost extra: £10 per extra patch, paid once (working price). Whole cities such as Manchester or Glasgow, or a bare postcode area such as M or BT, aren't available as one patch. We send enquiries to one firm per patch, per trade (that's in our lead terms). No promises of numbers. We don't know yet which patches will have a site, and we're not promising any patch or any number of enquiries. Tell us the areas you cover and we'll email you if we have, or plan, a site for your trade there.

What if a homeowner's area has no firm?

We tell them we don't have a firm covering their area yet, and we don't keep their enquiry or pass it to anyone. They can join a waiting list with its own unticked box: email address only, used only to tell them once when a firm joins, never passed to any firm (including the one that joins), and deleted after 90 days at the most. If you then claim that patch, you only get enquiries the homeowner sends you later, with their agreement.

Who runs this?

A sole trader. The owner's full name and postal address are at the foot of this page and in the privacy notice. Email enquiries@quotelocaltrades.co.uk (privacy requests: privacy@quotelocaltrades.co.uk).
