Privacy notice: "Claim your patch" form

No lawyer has reviewed this page. Version 3, 3 November 2026.

Who we are

Quote Local Trades is run by Peter Colburn trading as Quote Local Trades, a sole trader, at Bartle House, 9 Oxford Court, Manchester, M2 3WQ. Email: enquiries@quotelocaltrades.co.uk. Privacy requests: privacy@quotelocaltrades.co.uk. We are the "controller" of the details you send through the "Claim your patch" form.

What we collect

We don't ask for, or keep, details of trade registrations or qualifications. We don't check or verify anyone's registrations or qualifications. Each firm must hold any legal registration its work needs (for example, Gas Safe registration for gas work, or a competent person scheme or building control sign-off for notifiable electrical work).

This page sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking. Our host, Cloudflare, keeps standard security logs (such as your IP address and the time of each visit) for a limited period, in its data centres in the US and Europe.

Why we use it

Only to contact you about Quote Local Trades: whether we have, or plan, a local site for your trade in your areas, and our lead terms if you want to go ahead. We won't send you newsletters or other marketing, and we won't add you to any mailing list.

Our lawful basis

Your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), given by ticking the box on the form. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing us; we'll then stop contacting you and delete your details. Withdrawing doesn't affect anything we did before.

Who we share it with

Nobody. We don't sell, rent or pass your details to any other business, firm or list.

Two services hold your details for us and use them only to provide their service to us: Cloudflare, which hosts this site and keeps the form details in its database (we ask for that database to be held in Western Europe, and Cloudflare places it as near to that as it can), and Fastmail, our email service, which holds the emails we exchange with you (Fastmail keeps copies and backups in the US).

When Cloudflare or Fastmail move your details from the UK to the US, both say they use standard contractual safeguards (the Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect them.

How long we keep it

We delete your details 12 months after you send the form, or sooner if you ask. If you become a partner firm, your account records are then kept under our lead terms instead.

Homeowners: if no firm covers your area

This notice is for trade firms using the form above. If you're a homeowner and we don't have a firm covering your area yet, the quote site tells you so, and we don't keep your enquiry or pass it to anyone. You can choose to join a waiting list with its own tickbox, never ticked for you. If you do, we keep only your email address (and the first part of your postcode, such as OL11 2, so we know when a firm covers it), plus the exact wording you agreed to and when. Lawful basis: your consent. We use it only to email you once when a firm joins, we never pass it to any firm (including firms that sign up here) or anyone else, and we delete it after 90 days at the most, sooner once we've told you or if you ask. Each quote site's own privacy notice says the same.

Payments

No payments are being taken yet.

This part is for trade firms that pay us, including firms that pay before any of our local sites is live.

Card payments: Stripe takes the payment on its own page, as our payment provider. Your card details go to Stripe, not to us, and we never see or keep your full card number. We receive the payment confirmation and reference from Stripe, plus the details Stripe shares with us, such as your name, email address, the amount and the date. Stripe uses your details under its own privacy notice.

Bank transfers: we see the name and account details your bank sends with the payment.

What we use them for: to match the payment to your account, add your credit or extra patch, send receipts and refunds, and keep our accounts and tax records. We need them to run our agreement with you, and the law requires us to keep tax records.

How long we keep them: payment records are business records, which we must keep for tax purposes. As a sole trader, we keep them for 5 years after the 31 January tax return deadline for the tax year they belong to (HMRC's minimum for self-employed records), then delete them.

Your rights

You can ask us to: see the details we hold about you; correct them; delete them; limit how we use them; object to how we use them; or give you a copy in a common format. You can also withdraw your consent at any time. Email privacy@quotelocaltrades.co.uk and we'll reply within one month.
